Ok, a little backstory. I was given a Hyosung GT250R a week or two ago, it doesn't run, it's been dropped, and it generally was not well taken care of. As of today, I'm waiting on a few parts to come in, and then add a battery, oil, and it _should_ fire right up. Here's the bike:
I've got the fairings as well, they are cracked and scratched, but held securely by a massive amount of zip ties. I'm new to motorcycles, and should be getting my license soon, right after a safety course. But I've got my MR2 for a daily so I don't need the bike. I was looking around at what you can do to these bikes and noticed this:
This is built off of a Hyosung GT250 "Naked", the difference being the abscence of fairings, and the cluster not being digital. I think the headlight too, but I'm not sure. Just because I'm a nice person, here are a few more pictures of the bike:
My thinking is to pull all the fairings, chop the ass end of the frame down, pull the bitch pegs, then get new headlights, taillights, and mirrors.
For headlight:
Something like this to keep the mess down, heatshrink all wiring, paint everything satin black. How hard would this be to do? I've done pretty much everything with cars, I'm handy with a pair of dikes and some electrical tape, I figure mounting it would be the hardest part.

Obviously, what exact ones I use will be different, but something similar.
Then end mirrors for the bars:
As for the exhaust, I'm not entirely sure... But I figure that will come with time.
So oppo, think I should do it? What are my fairings worth? (mine are pretty messed up, I'm not thinking much...) I want to keep the front fender and chain guard on, for obvious reasons, and the plate should block anything from spraying onto me while riding (And I most likely won't ride in rain). depending on where I mount it. Being completely honest, I will have maybe $300 in this bike when I get it running. So I really don't have to be careful with it, I'm planning on it being dropped once (or twice), I want to ride it as much as possible (comfortably), to keep the miles down on my MR2 (and save gas monies), and just have fun. I've ridden a total of maybe an hour, probably less, but what I have ridden has been a total blast. Besides, I love to tinker, so there's that...
Thoughts? Criticism? Want to tell me I'm a self-absorbed asshole?

Do it. Looks pretty cool IMO. Minimal cash outlay, and minimal stuff to scratch or break when you drop it. And you will...

I I can sell the fairings and headlight setup to pay for the new lights and mirrors I will. And I know I'm gonna drop it, but it's a little 250 I got for free, not a $15,000 literbike. Shit happens. I've got the gear to take it, so I just wanna get it over with.

A free bike is the best kind of bike to drop. And if you can sell parts you don't need to get the parts you want, this is a no-brainer. Just some time and effort...

I actually really like how you have it right now, with the semi-naked look. I know bike looks are all about preference but I dig the vintage/cafe thing with only a modest front fairing.

The semi-naked look is because the bike is getting fixed and when parts get here I have to take the crank cover off hah. I may put the fairings on, might not, they are pretty messed up. This project I'm thinking would happen this winter.
